We developed and built a B&Q One Plant Home reporting tool for B&Q’s sustainability team. It served as an online tool to collect non-financial data across their 11 sustainability issues. The tool contained annual reporting of KPIs, monthly reporting and a file upload facility to hold supporting evidence files as well as comments and notes. To provide a comprehensive facility the tool also analysed collected data to produce real-time summaries using formula and conversion factors. Year-by-year data and analysis was held on the system for auditing, tracking of trends and comparisons.
A comprehensive management system enabled updating of the questionnaire and analysis content. The tool enabled users across the business to log-in and input data, with individual user accounts having filtered access. The tool was built with a set of different user types with specific functions to reflect the company’s management process. To fit B&Q’s reporting procedures a submission and sign-off facility was created. This enabled time management and the auditing of reporting by the sustainability team.
